This choral society is the first Finnish choir to sing music exclusively from movies, TV series, video games and animations. Unique choral arrangements and the blazing orange dragon are trademarks of this 30 voices strong group of singers. Every year Unreality performs at massive conventions, holds concerts and its small group, Nanoreality, is also actively doing gigs in events of all sizes. The choir&#8217;s artistic director is Jari Koivistoinen.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><div id=\"panel-4160-2-0-1\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_text\" data-index=\"4\" ><h3 class=\"widget-title\">THE ORCHESTRA<\/h3>\t\t\t<div class=\"textwidget\"><p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-4129 size-full alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/unreality.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/YS.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1095\" height=\"371\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ylioppilaskunnan Soittajat or YS (Helsinki University Symphony Orchestra) is an orchestra with almost 100 members operating cooperation with the Student Union of the University of Helsinki. It is also the heir of the oldest symphonic orchestra in Finland, with a history covering 95 years. During each year the orchestra performs at least two large symphony programs and in addition will perform regularly in academic and other events. Most of the members are students at the University of Helsinki, but there are also students from Aalto University, the University of the Arts Helsinki and Metropolia University of Applied Sciences. In this concert the orchestra is directed by J\u00f3zsef H\u00e1rs.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><div id=\"panel-4160-2-0-2\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_text\" data-index=\"5\" ><h3 class=\"widget-title\">Jari Koivistoinen<\/h3>\t\t\t<div class=\"textwidget\"><p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-4130 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/unreality.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/JariK-300x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/unreality.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/JariK-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/unreality.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/JariK-150x150.png 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Jari Koivistoinen is a choir director and musician from Helsinki, with experience with both small professional groups and large choirs. In addition to Unreality, Jari also acts as the second lead for Tapiola kamarikuoro and as choir master for Helsinki filharmoninen kuoro. In addition, he acts as a music teacher for the Cantores Minores boys\u2019 choir, which has cooperated with many other choirs in the Helsinki capital region, incl. Murtosointu, Mieskuoro Manifestum, Kumpulan kuoro and Helsingin Poliisilaulajat). In addition to choir work, Jari also works as the cantor for Hietaniemen hautausmaa cemetery and acts actively with music as an accompanying pianist, chamber musician, singer, composer and arranger. Besides music, he also consumes great amounts of other culture and is very interested in movies, games, arts and standup comedy, to name a few. Jari started working with Unreality in spring 2017.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><div id=\"panel-4160-2-0-3\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_text panel-last-child\" data-index=\"6\" ><h3 class=\"widget-title\">J\u00f3zsef H\u00e1rs<\/h3>\t\t\t<div class=\"textwidget\"><p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-4131 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/unreality.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/JozefH-e1662800984272.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"529\" \/><\/p>\n<p>J\u00f3zsef H\u00e1rs was born in 1976 in S\u00fcmeg, Hungary. He started training with french horn and piano when he was 8 years old. Later he studied french horn under Ifor James, Bruno Schneider and Marie-Luise Neunecker in Germany.<\/p>\n<p>H\u00e1rs had his first experiences as a professional musician in the orchestra of the Finnish National Opera and Ballet year 1999, after which he worked in Innsbruck as the principal for the Tiroli Symphonie orchester. In addition, he has worked as a freelance musician in Schleswig Holstein festival orchestra, Ensemble Modern, Finnish Chamber Orchestra, Avanti! Chamber Orchestra and Oslo Philharmonic.<\/p>\n<p>He has lived in Finland since 2006, which is when he began in the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, playing the french horn. From January 2010 he has played french horn in the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra as a soloist. He became a Finnish citizen year 2016. J\u00f3zsef H\u00e1rs has studied conducting an orchestra privately with Edgar Seipenbusch in Innsbruck and in 2011-2015 he studied in the conduction class of the Sibelius Academy with professor Leif Segerstam and professor Atso Almila as his main teachers. As visiting teachers for the conduction class can be mentioned Jorma Panula, Hannu Lintu, Sakari Oramo, Mikko Franck, John Storg\u00e5rds, Osmo V\u00e4nsk\u00e4 and Susanna M\u00e4lkki.<\/p>\n<p>H\u00e1rs has acted as a visiting conductor for several professional orchestras. He has, among others, conducted for the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Helsinki City Orchestra, the chamber orchestra Tapiola Sinfonietta, Pori Sinfonietta, the Uusinta chamber group and Oulu Sinfonia.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"pg-4160-3\"  class=\"panel-grid panel-no-style\" ><div id=\"pgc-4160-3-0\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell panel-grid-cell-empty\" ><\/div><div id=\"pgc-4160-3-1\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell panel-grid-cell-mobile-last\" ><div id=\"panel-4160-3-1-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_text panel-first-child panel-last-child\" data-index=\"7\" ><h3 class=\"widget-title\">PROGRAM<\/h3>\t\t\t<div class=\"textwidget\"><\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><\/div><div id=\"pgc-4160-3-2\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell panel-grid-cell-empty\" ><\/div><\/div><div id=\"pg-4160-4\"  class=\"panel-grid panel-no-style\" ><div id=\"pgc-4160-4-0\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell\" ><div id=\"panel-4160-4-0-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_text panel-first-child\" data-index=\"8\" ><h3 class=\"widget-title\">Moment of Truth &#038; Daughter of the Dark God<\/h3>\t\t\t<div class=\"textwidget\"><p>Octopath Traveller<br \/>\nComposer Yasunori Nishiki<br \/>\nArrangement Pauli Marttinen<\/p>\n<p><em>Our first piece is a combination of the pieces Moment of Truth<\/em><br \/>\n<em>and Daughter of the Dark God from the game Octopath<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Traveller. In the game, the world Orsterra was created by<\/em><br \/>\n<em>thirteen gods working together, but one of them, Galdera,<\/em><br \/>\n<em>betrayed the others and was imprisoned in the afterlife. The<\/em><br \/>\n<em>player travels together with eight heroes and attempts to stop<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Galdera from returning. This song is the theme for one of the last<\/em><br \/>\n<em>post game bosses in the game.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><div id=\"panel-4160-4-0-1\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_text\" data-index=\"9\" ><h3 class=\"widget-title\">Hellfire<\/h3>\t\t\t<div class=\"textwidget\"><p>The Hunchback of Notre Dame<br \/>\nComposer Alan Menken<br \/>\nWords Stephen Schwartz<br \/>\nArrangement Pauli Marttinen<\/p>\n<p>Soloist Matias Kylli\u00e4inen<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8216;This song is about Frollo\u2019s feelings towards Esmeralda: he<\/em><br \/>\n<em>lusts to own her, even though he knows that this is wrong. In<\/em><br \/>\n<em>the song Frollo places the blame for his lust on Esmeralda<\/em><br \/>\n<em>instead of himself. In his heart of hearts, he knows that this is<\/em><br \/>\n<em>not true. In the movie this is visualized by a choir of priests<\/em><br \/>\n<em>glad in dark red, singing \u201cMea Culpa, Mea Maxima Culpa\u201d or<\/em><br \/>\n<em>\u201cmy fault, completely my fault\u201d. This is a very dark message<\/em><br \/>\n<em>for a children\u2019s movie by Disney, when the message of the song<\/em><br \/>\n<em>is that \u201cshe will be mine or she will burn\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><div id=\"panel-4160-4-0-2\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_text\" data-index=\"10\" ><h3 class=\"widget-title\">Ballad of the Goddess<\/h3>\t\t\t<div class=\"textwidget\"><p>The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword<br \/>\nComposer Hajime Wakai, Takeshi Hama<br \/>\nArrangement Pauli Marttinen<\/p>\n<p><em>This melody became a recurring theme after Skyward Sword<\/em><br \/>\n<em>and can be found in many of the Zelda games. The lyrics of the<\/em><br \/>\n<em>song are in Hylian and are a prayer asking for light. As an<\/em><br \/>\n<em>interesting fact it can be said that the main theme of this song,<\/em><br \/>\n<em>when played backwards, is called Zelda\u2019s Lullaby and is also<\/em><br \/>\n<em>a recurring theme in the Zelda games.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><div id=\"panel-4160-4-0-3\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_text\" data-index=\"11\" ><h3 class=\"widget-title\">Corridors of Time<\/h3>\t\t\t<div class=\"textwidget\"><p>Chrono Trigger<br \/>\nComposer Yasunori Mitsuda<br \/>\nArrangement Tuomas Valtonen<\/p>\n<p><em>Chrono Trigger is a JRPG by Square (that later became<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Square Enix) from 1995. The plot of the game follows a group<\/em><br \/>\n<em>of heroes who must save the world from destruction by<\/em><br \/>\n<em>traveling through time. The heroes visit prehistorical<\/em><br \/>\n<em>dinosaurs, medieval times and a post-apocalyptic future to find<\/em><br \/>\n<em>information, new partners and gear. Many reviews have called<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Chrono Trigger one of the best video games in the world and it<\/em><br \/>\n<em>still has a loyal fan base even though it has been 25 years since<\/em><br \/>\n<em>the game was published. The soundtrack at least has many fine<\/em><br \/>\n<em>songs.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><div id=\"panel-4160-4-0-4\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_text\" data-index=\"12\" ><h3 class=\"widget-title\">Kigurumi Planet<\/h3>\t\t\t<div class=\"textwidget\"><p>Hanamaru Kindergarten<br \/>\nComposer Minori Kojima<br \/>\nWords Natsumi Tadano<br \/>\nArrangement Pauli Marttinen<\/p>\n<p>Soloist Timja Aunola<\/p>\n<p><em>The sympathetic slice of life comedy tells about Anzu, a small girl<\/em><br \/>\n<em>who goes to daycare with Koume and Hiiragi. Together they try to<\/em><br \/>\n<em>attract the attention of the daycare manager Tsuchida, who<\/em><br \/>\n<em>happens to be far more interested in the beautiful Yamada who is<\/em><br \/>\n<em>in charge of the class next door. Every episode of this anime has a<\/em><br \/>\n<em>different ending song and this one is from episode two. The<\/em><br \/>\n<em>performance attempts to follow the childish quality of the original<\/em><br \/>\n<em>singer, even though we don\u2019t have child soloist on hand.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><div id=\"panel-4160-4-0-5\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_text\" data-index=\"13\" ><h3 class=\"widget-title\">Hanezeve Caradhina<\/h3>\t\t\t<div class=\"textwidget\"><p>Made in Abyss<br \/>\nComposer Kevin Penkin<br \/>\nWords Takeshi Saito<br \/>\nArrangement Pauli Marttinen<\/p>\n<p><em>Hanazeve Caradhina is the song that we hear when the two main<\/em><br \/>\n<em>characters of the anime Made in Abyss, Riko and Reg, watch the<\/em><br \/>\n<em>sun rise in Riko\u2019s hometown, right on the edge of the Abyss. Made<\/em><br \/>\n<em>in Abyss tells of the story of these two children as they journey<\/em><br \/>\n<em>through the merciless Abyss towards its bottom. The Abyss is<\/em><br \/>\n<em>indeed merciless to those who which to enter, but it also contains<\/em><br \/>\n<em>many treasures. Filled with animals, each stranger than the next,<\/em><br \/>\n<em>climbing up is made very hard, near impossible by the curse of the<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Abyss. The superb world building of the graphics is aided by the<\/em><br \/>\n<em>unusual soundtrack by Kevin Penkin. The original singer of<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Hanazeve Caradhina is the contratenor Takeshi Saito who is able<\/em><br \/>\n<em>to sing very high notes beautifully, but to save our tenors we have<\/em><br \/>\n<em>left the melody to be sung by the higher voices.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><div id=\"panel-4160-4-0-6\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_text panel-last-child\" data-index=\"14\" ><h3 class=\"widget-title\">Lost Temple of Croatoa<\/h3>\t\t\t<div class=\"textwidget\"><p>Jamestown: Legend Of The Lost Colony<br \/>\nComposer Francisco \u201cFoco\u201dCerda<br \/>\nArrangement Pauli Marttinen<\/p>\n<p><em>Jamestown, published 2011 by Final Form Games, tells of an<\/em><br \/>\n<em>alternative history on Mars, where steam-punk ships fight for<\/em><br \/>\n<em>the control of the colonies and the opponents include the<\/em><br \/>\n<em>British, the Spanish and the Martians. The game itself is an<\/em><br \/>\n<em>upwards scrolling shoot-em-up but it can be played with<\/em><br \/>\n<em>friends on the same computer with up to four people at the<\/em><br \/>\n<em>time. Lost Temple of Croatoa is the background music for the<\/em><br \/>\n<em>last level of the game.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><\/div><div id=\"pgc-4160-4-1\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell panel-grid-cell-empty\" ><\/div><div id=\"pgc-4160-4-2\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell\" ><div id=\"panel-4160-4-2-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_text panel-first-child\" data-index=\"15\" ><h3 class=\"widget-title\">This Land &#038; King of Pride Rock<\/h3>\t\t\t<div class=\"textwidget\"><p>Lion King<br \/>\nComposer Hans Zimmer<br \/>\nArrangement Timja Aunola<\/p>\n<p><em>The Lion King, released 1994, is a nostalgic and loved movie<\/em><br \/>\n<em>for many who were children in the 80s and 90s. Although<\/em><br \/>\n<em>many recall best the songs sung by the characters of the<\/em><br \/>\n<em>movie, the background music by Hans Zimmer also includes<\/em><br \/>\n<em>many excellent songs. This Land is played when Simba meets<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Musafa\u2019s ghost and King of Pride Rock, with lyrics in Xulu,<\/em><br \/>\n<em>rings out when Simba sees his pride and is crowned the king<\/em><br \/>\n<em>of Pride Rock.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><div id=\"panel-4160-4-2-1\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_text\" data-index=\"16\" ><h3 class=\"widget-title\">Kimi Wo Nosete<\/h3>\t\t\t<div class=\"textwidget\"><p>Laputa Castle in the Sky<br \/>\nComposer Joe Hisaishi<br \/>\nArrangement Pauli Marttinen<\/p>\n<p><em>Studio Ghibli released Laputa in 1986 and it was the first<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Ghibli movie to show Totoro\u2019s profile image at the start of the<\/em><br \/>\n<em>movie, although Totoro itself would not be released for two<\/em><br \/>\n<em>more years. Laputa by Hayao Miyazaki has won many awards<\/em><br \/>\n<em>and is still one of the most popular Ghibli movies, according to<\/em><br \/>\n<em>online questionnaires. Kimi Wo Nosete, composed by Joe<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Hisaishi, is the end theme of the movie and the lyrics tell, in<\/em><br \/>\n<em>the end, of longing.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><div id=\"panel-4160-4-2-2\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_text\" data-index=\"17\" ><h3 class=\"widget-title\">Reincarnation<\/h3>\t\t\t<div class=\"textwidget\"><p>Ghost in the Shell<br \/>\nComposer and lyrics Kenji Kawai<br \/>\nArrangement Pauli Marttinen<\/p>\n<p><em>The movie Ghost in the Shell tells of a dystopic future where<\/em><br \/>\n<em>cybernetic technology has progressed to the point where parts<\/em><br \/>\n<em>of the human body can be improved or replaced with<\/em><br \/>\n<em>cybernetic parts. One of the biggest advances is the casing<\/em><br \/>\n<em>around the brain, a cyber brain, that allows a direct internet<\/em><br \/>\n<em>link to the brain. The main character of the movie, major<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Motoko Kusanagi, suffered an accident as a child and as a<\/em><br \/>\n<em>result her entire body has been replaced with a cybernetic<\/em><br \/>\n<em>prosthesis and only her consciousness remains within the cyber<\/em><br \/>\n<em>brain.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The composer of Reincarnation, Kenji Kawai, sought the feel<\/em><br \/>\n<em>of ancient Japanese wedding songs in the lyrics, while adding<\/em><br \/>\n<em>elements of Bulgarian fold music in the harmonies. The end<\/em><br \/>\n<em>result is one of the most recognizable pieces of anime music.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><div id=\"panel-4160-4-2-3\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_text\" data-index=\"18\" ><h3 class=\"widget-title\">Ezio\u2019s Family<\/h3>\t\t\t<div class=\"textwidget\"><p>Assassin\u2019s Creed II<br \/>\nComposer Jesper Kyd<br \/>\nArrangement Pauli Marttinen<\/p>\n<p><em>The game series Assassin\u2019s Creed follows the life of assassins<\/em><br \/>\n<em>in different eras, and the series is known for having modeled<\/em><br \/>\n<em>historical events and places very realistically. The second part<\/em><br \/>\n<em>of the series takes place in Renaissance era Italy. The piece by<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Jesper Kyd is the theme for the main character, Ezio Auditore<\/em><br \/>\n<em>de Firenze. The theme was so popular that it became the de<\/em><br \/>\n<em>facto theme for the whole series, and it has been heard in<\/em><br \/>\n<em>every Assassin\u2019s Creed game since, as well as in some other<\/em><br \/>\n<em>games by Ubisoft.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><div id=\"panel-4160-4-2-4\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_text\" data-index=\"19\" ><h3 class=\"widget-title\">A Song of Storm and Fire<\/h3>\t\t\t<div class=\"textwidget\"><p>Tsubasa Chronicle<br \/>\nComposer and lyrics Yuki Kajiura<br \/>\nArrangement Pauli Marttinen<\/p>\n<p><em>Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle is an anime where the princess<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Sakura of the Clow kingdom has lost her memory. She departs<\/em><br \/>\n<em>with the archeologist Syaoran to find her memories, which have<\/em><br \/>\n<em>been sprinkled as feathers all over many worlds. They gain the<\/em><br \/>\n<em>help of Kurogane and Fai D. Flowright as well as the small white<\/em><br \/>\n<em>animal called Mokona, all of whom help along the journey.
